It had been a very long time since I had been to Tavira. So, I went out on a nice sunny day to see how things have changed. Tavira is an historic small town, with a history dating back 8000 years. However, the oldest buildings now seen include the castle, which was built by the moors in the 12th century AD. Most of the town was destroyed by the earthquake and tsunami of 1755. Most of what can be seen is therefore fairly ‘new’. Click a picture to see it in a larger size.
