Made a short trip back to Kent for a friend´s wedding last weekend. It was VERY wet but a good time was had by all.

Before I went, I took a few pictures of the town beach at Albufeira around sunset, that’s 530pm. You can see them here.

On the Saturday afternoon I went over to Maidstone to watch Maidstone United v Salisbury City in the FA Trophy 1st Round. (If that means nothing, this is the annual cup competition for the semi-professional clubs outside the top four Divisions of English football. Maidstone United play in the Ryman League Southern Division, which is the eighth tier and Salisbury are two Leagues above them in Conference South.) A crowd of nearly 1400 turned up on a filthy wet horrible afternoon to watch Maidstone win 2-0. Maidstone have recently returned home to the town after years of playing elsewhere. Their original stadium was sold for development some time back. Their new ground is close to the centre, has a synthetic pitch and holds around 2,000 fans at the moment. The home town obviously likes this return as they come in numbers. Most teams in their League can expect 250- 300 at the games. Maidstone average 1,600!

Before that I took a walk around my former home town of Tonbridge. It was a very rainy, cold and dark cold morning. the kind of day that reminded me why I moved to Portugal. At the least the rain here is mostly warm rain.

Some pictures of town, sports ground, river and the Maidstone match here

Now I am back home in Albufeira, where it is starting to feel autumnal. As I write, at nearly 6pm local time, the temperature is 13.4C and will fall to 9 or 10C tonight.
