Royan and St Georges de Didonne
Went to Royan and St Georges de Didonne on Saturday, mainly to watch Bordeaux FC play a pre-season football match. There was time to take a fairly good look around. Royan is a modern town of concrete and glass. It had to be completely rebuilt after it was flattened by mistake in 1945. The US Air Force missed their target of the docks and bombed the town instead. One feature of the town is the church that, from certain angles, looks exactly like one of those 1940’s Flash Gordon spaceships. Here’s a sample
From close up it looks more like a grain elevator to me!
